Europe is geographically speaking the smallest world`s continent, stretching from Atlantic to Asia and from Africa to the Arctic, although the eastern border isn`t formally defined. Certain parts of the Causasus, Russia and Turkey are often considered to be a part of Asian continent due to cultural history. Politically some countries are a part of European Union, while there are also some that don`t even consider the possibility of joining. Although Europe is physically the smallest continent, it is a very interesting mixture of different cultures, histories, architectures, etc. Just the large number of popular Europe tourist attractions is a good indication of this.
The diversity of landscapes, languages and lifestyles is amazing especially due to low distances. Regions of Europe can be divided to Central Europe, the Benelux , Scandinavia, countries of former Soviet Union, Iberian and Italian peninsula, Balkans and other countries like Britain and Ireland, France and Monaco, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey.
Research shows that European countries welcome almost 500million foreign visitors yearly, with 70% of these traveling to countries of European Union. This is understandable due to open borders, efficient and well developed infrastructure, well preserved and rich cultural heritage, among other advantages. For those that like round trips, the Europe`s inter-city railway system provides an easy-going and interesting Europe travel experience. It usually does not take more than few hours to change entire environment, meaning the landscape, language area, possibly even the climates.
Each European region has its own characteristics, and considerable number of different historical and cultural attractions. Region of Cetral Europe is full of historical events, towns and castles as well as well preserved traditions with the beautiful Alps mountains and many woods.
Benelux consists of Belgium, Luxemburg and Netherlands, offering a wide variety of site seeing and events and especially Netherlands is known for its tulips, painters, cheese and ,of course, their liberal attitudes.
Scandinavia includes Iceland, Norway, Faroe Islands, Sweden, Denmark and Finland that offer astounding nature and landcape with all their lakes and mountains, waterfalls, vulcanos and gaysers.
The Balkans are probably the most diverse region of all and include countries from Croatia down to the Republic of Macedonia as well as Albania and Moldova, Romania and Bulgaria. Due to its location, the Balkans region had a turbulent history with beautiful mulicultural cities and sacral architecture as well as beautiful and very diverse landscape and nature full of mountains, forests and beautiful lowlands, many lakes and rivers, and a coastline of the Adriatic Sea.
Paris in France is probably the most popular tourist destination in Europe, beside Rome, and the sunny lands of Greece and Turkey, and the Iberian countire all have much to offer to the travellers.
